One of the highlights was the expansion of public murals: around ten new murals were added, bringing the total count in San Nicolás to 54. Overcoming Hurdles
The 2022 edition didn’t come without its challenges. Early in the festival, San Nicolás was hit by a power blackout, causing temporary disruption. Thanks to backup generators, the show continued, with galleries lit by flashlights and visitors still able to admire and purchase pieces. On another day, torrential rains caused flooding and infrastructure stress, forcing some outdoor activities to be canceled. But the organizers remained flexible, and gallery doors were opened during alternate times so visitors wouldn’t miss out.
A Platform for Artists
Aruba Art Fair 2022 showcased over 150 local and international artists, offering them exposure and sales opportunities in a revived cultural context. Galleries, pop-up installations, performances, and open-air displays filled the streets and alleys, turning San Nicolás into an immersive art district.
